Our Full Day Kindergarten
Schedule

8:20 - 8:45 Table Activities
We begin to get settled into
our day by playing games at the tables. I put out theme related
games that focus on skills and concepts we are working on in
class. It also allows the children to talk and play with their
friends before the day begins.
8:45 - 9:15 Morning
Meeting
We always begin our day with
Morning Meeting. We
sing a name song, shake hands and say Good Morning to our friends,
salute the flag and sing a patriotic
song, and do calendar and
weather activities. At Morning Meeting we also read our
Morning Message together.
We read about who the daily
helper is and the days events and special happenings.
9:15 - 9:30
Journals
Each child has their own
journal with a seasonal cover for each month. Most of the
time I give the children a
topic to work on, but sometimes they can do "free writing and
drawing". I usually
encourage them to draw a picture, and then write letters, words,
or a sentence to go with it.

an activity based on the story. This can be an
art project, journal page,
whole group game, cooperative learning activity, writing,
or oral language game that
extends from the stories we have just read.

busy day after recess. I play quiet music and pass out books to
children to read quietly.

Math
During

manipulatives to learn our math concepts.
We also work in small groups
with the "math tubs". The tubs contain hands-on manipulatives such
as , Unifix cubes,
pattern blocks, tiles, two colored chips, colored cubes, links,
various animal counters
(bears, farm animals, dinosaurs etc), and "treasure boxes"
(assorted materials such as shells, seasonal erasers, buttons,
keys, etc).
1:30 - 2:00 Literacy Centers
During Literacy Center Time we
work in small groups on the
computer, book center,
listening center, pocket chart center, ABC games center, read /
write the room center, art center, poetry center, and writing
center. I use this
time to work in the small center groups and to assess individual
needs.

All centers
are open after children have
worked in literacy centers!
