Songs and Poems

D-A-D-D-Y
Tune:  Bingo

There is someone that I love best
And Daddy is his name-o.

D-A-D-D-Y
D-A-D-D-Y
D-A-D-D-Y

And Daddy is his name-o.

Happy, Happy Father's Day
Tune:  Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Here's a little song to say,
"Happy, happy Father's Day!"
No one's father is so sweet.
Your kind ways just can't be beat.
Happy, happy Father's Day;
I love you in a big way!

Father's Day
Tune:  Jingle Bells

Father's Day.  Father's Day.
It is almost here.
It's time when we say
"Thank you Father Dear!"

Father's Day.  Father's Day.
It is almost here.
Hugs and kisses to my dad.
"I love you, Father Dear!"

I Love Daddy
Tune:  Frere Jacques

I love Daddy,  I love Daddy
Yes I do, Yes I do.
Daddy's are for hugging.
Daddy's are for kissing.
I love you!  Yes I do!

Oh My Daddy
Tune:  Clementine

Oh, my daddy; oh, my daddy,
Oh, my very special dad,
I
want to thank you very much
For being my special dad!

Handprint Poem for Dad's Pillowcase

Have children dip their hands in paint and then place their handprints on a pillowcase.
Use a T-shirt transfer to iron this poem on the pillowcase.

 Everyday I am growing up

And soon I will be so tall

That the handprints on this case

May be very hard to recall.

So here are two of my handprints

On this pillowcase to stay

and show you how my fingers looked

This year on Father's Day.

Photo Magnets

Materials:
Baby food jar lids (spray painted)
Photo of each child
Glitter or glitter glue
Ribbon

Prepare for this project ahead of time by cleaning and spray painting
the baby food jar lids.  You can spray them any color you like.
Take a picture of each child.
Cut it into a circle shape small enough to fit on the inside part of the lid and glue.
Have the children use glitter glue to decorate around their picture.  Allow to dry.
Place a strip of magnetic tape on the back to make a refrigerator magnet!

Handprint Tile

Materials:
Ceramic tiles (one for each child)
Acrylic Paint
Black sharpie marker
Clear coat sealer

This project must be done with one student at a time.
Have each child choose a color of paint and you will paint one hand that color.
Place the hand down on a ceramic tile.
When the paint is dry, let each child write their name across the palm.
Write "Happy Mother's Day" with the year using a  Sharpie marker (below the handprint).
The next day spray with a clear coat sealer.

Pencil Holder

Have the children paint popsicle sticks.  Let dry.
Glue close together all around a can (like a tomato sauce can).

Stress Reliever Ball

Using a funnel to fill a balloon with flour.
Tie it securely with a knot.  Tie a ribbon around the knot to cover it.
Type the following note and attach it to the ball using a ribbon.

This little balloon of flour
has amazing little power.
When not feeling your very best,
massage it to relieve your stress.
